That’s right. You can take great classes online, learn incredible ideas, and earn $100. You can also get your questions answered, and meet great people from all over the U.S. Even better, you can do that and never leave the house.

First session is May 20.

The Ultimate Jewish Online Course is a live, engaging, interactive, online experience. Your instructor is a real person—not a prerecorded video or talking head—and you learn deep, relevant Jewish ideas in real time.

The Ultimate Jewish Online Course meets once a week and if you complete the program requirements, you earn $100.

What will you learn?

You will learn all sorts of cool stuff like:

  • Deep ideas in Jewish thought
  • The secret of Jewish meditation and prayer
  • New insights and ways to approach the Jewish holidays
  • Reclaiming mistranslated and misunderstood Jewish concepts
  • And much more

Are you eligible?

The Ultimate Jewish Online Course is open to Jewish students and recent graduates, ages 18-24.

What do you need to do?

You participate in 8, 1-hour weekly webinars. Each session is live, interactive, and mobile-friendly. You will also need to submit a short essay after each session. The sessions happen once a week, and new dates will be announced soon.

Do you offer a trip to Israel, too?

Yes we do, although in this crazy COVID locked down world, that isn’t such a simple question. We’re hoping to run a program summer 2021, and if that happens, you will be eligible to apply your $100 toward the cost of the program (there may be other exclusive discounts offered only to graduates of the Ultimate Jewish Online Course as well).

FAQ

Really? I can earn $100 by doing this?

Yes you can. Your time is valuable. It is not unusual to get paid a stipend or to earn a travel grant to research a specific topic or work in a lab. This is similar.

What time do classes start each week?

Classes start 9 PM Eastern time and end between 10 and 10:30. That isn’t late (no self-respecting college student goes to bed before midnight—you know that). And because this program involves multiple campuses in different time zones, we can’t start any earlier. Classes are every Tuesday night, and new dates will be announced soon.

How does it work?

Each week you login to a virtual classroom. Your instructor will be waiting. The other participants will be there as well. You participate and ask questions via chat. You will also answer poll questions, watch videos, take a quiz, and write a short essay each week at the end of each session.

What happens if I miss a session?

Not a problem. You need to be there—live and in person—for 6 of the 8 sessions. The 2 you might miss you make up watching the recorded, archived content. You are responsible to submit 8 assignments for 8 sessions.

I don’t get it. Do I watch a video each week? Is the instructor a talking head?

No. Not at all. This program is a live, interactive, engaging experience. Your instructor is live and in real time. You will interact and ask questions. It is just like being in a classroom, except it is online.

What will I learn?

You will explore some of the most important issues concerning the relevance of Judaism in contemporary life. Some examples include the nature of free will, the intersection of faith and science, the Jewish historical experience, and the Jewish secrets of love and dating.

What are the requirements I need to fulfill to earn my $100?

You need to participate—live and in person—for at least 6 of the 8 sessions. The 2 you might miss you make up watching the archived content. Even if you miss a session (though we don’t know why anyone would!), you still need to submit 8 assignments.

What are the assignments? After each session, you need to submit a 2 or 3 paragraph essay discussing what you learned (this is the minimum, you can make your essays as long as you want). You will be asked to answer specific quiz questions as well. All essays are due before the next class begins. You need to submit 8 assignments to earn $100.

If Tuesday nights are not good right now and you do not think you can show up on time and attend at least 6 of the 8 sessions live and in person, wait until your schedule frees up and join us when we next offer this program. Obviously, you should also get the word out and tell your friends to join us as well.

What are the system requirements I need to participate?

We use the Zoom webinar platform. Zoom works on most computers, phones, and mobile platforms. If you do not have Zoom, you’ll be prompted to create an account when you login for the first session. Do it. You will be sent a link to the online classroom a day or two before each session.

Who is eligible for The Ultimate Jewish Online Course?
